5 Premier League jobs for Brendan Rodgers
Sometimes you can be your own worst enemy. Ask Brendan Rodgers. To say his first two years as Celtic manager went well would be an understatement. Two SPL titles, two league cups and two Scottish Cups. No manager had delivered back-to-back tartan trebles. The Northern Irishman not only rebuilt the Bhoy's dominance but his own reputation.
Rodgers headed north with a battered persona following his Liverpool spell. All the trophies combined with the best points-per-game ratio of any title-winning manager in Scottish top flight history restored him. So too has his style infusion after several bland years under Ronny Deila. He developed, furthered and revived careers for players young and old. He ticked boxes people didn't think to consider.
Yet, it appears third season syndrome has hit. Before last weekend’s win over Aberdeen, Celtic had dropped seven points in six games. It was their worst start to a league campaign in 20 years. Like Wolves, the dissenters have begun to circle.
Questions arise about how long Rodgers will remain at Celtic Park. His rebuilt reputation only attracts other clubs to the scent. He’s already had calls from China. Premier League clubs can't be too far behind. Entertaining that thought just for the moment, which English sides would likely ring him up first? Here are five possibilities.
