6 clubs in danger of relegation to League One

Wednesday 3rd January 2018

With the Championship season already in full swing, the table has taken shape and we can see who is in promotion contention and who are in danger of relegation to League One. There are around 6 clubs who are now in a relegation dog fight. This ends at Reading in 18th who I believe are not in any relegation battle as they will surely hit some form with the players they have and climb away from trouble. There are some big clubs down there and 3 out of 6 will go down meaning there will no doubt be some huge games in the run up to the end of the season. Here are the 6 clubs who are in danger of going down to the third tier:

Birmingham City

The Blues are bottom of the league and have made a terrible start to the season. They are onto their second manager and have still not found any consistency. However, they have been in this position before and have stayed up over the past couple of seasons and know what it takes to do so. There are obviously problems at the club which need to be resolved. I believe they will stay up this season. They are a big club with a huge fan base and once players like Jota, Che Adams and Jeremie Boga get playing they can cause some problems for teams which makes me think that they will turn it around this season. Prediction: 21st

The Black Cats have been in big trouble this season and are onto their second manager, Chris Coleman. I believe that he will keep them up. They have some talented players and even though they have been inconsistent and have not been able to consistently win games, they will sign some players in January which will help them. They also have problems at the club which need to be sorted in the near future but with Chris Coleman at the helm they will be fighting for their lives and I think they will stay up. Prediction: 19th

Burton Albion

Burton staying up last season was a fantastic achievement and they were an inspiration to many smaller clubs wanting to get to the Championship. However, although they are capable of grinding out wins, I still think that they will fall short this season. This is because I think the other clubs that they are fighting against have more talented players. Prediction: 24th

Hull City

The Tigers are in big trouble and cannot seem to hold onto leads. They are now managed by Nigel Adkins and he has not been able to turn their fortunes around since taking charge. They currently have 1 win in 13 matches which is relegation form. They sold all their best players in the summer and have not replaced them. It is for this reason why I think the Tigers will go down, unless they get their recruitment right in January. Prediction: 22nd

Bolton Wanderers

The Trotters look destined for a return to League One after making a disastrous start to this season. However, they have turned it around and are getting some big wins. I think they will, like Burton, just fall short at the expense of Barnsley, Birmingham and Sunderland and their poor start may come back to haunt them. Prediction: 23rd

The Tykes have been dragged into the dog fight but under Paul Heckingbottom I believe that they have the fight, determination and belief to stay up this season. Prediction: 18th
