Could Alexis Sanchez really move to Chelsea?

Friday 10th March 2017
We have all seen the pictures online over the last few days featuring a disgruntled Alexis Sanchez slumping on the Arsenal bench making what appeared to be sarcastic smiles at his sides embarrassing performances and results of late. But is he really about to join local London rivals Chelsea?

Well, who'd have ever thought that Ashley Cole would have made the same move just a short time ago?

Anything can happen in football and the Sanchez to Chelsea move would actually make a lot of sense for the player at least. As we know the Chilean International is currently stalling on a new contract meaning that in less than two years, he'll become a free agent.

Arsenal are allegedly refusing to stump up the high wage demands that Sanchez is asking for, which appears to be an attempt by the player to force a move away from the Club he has grown hugely frustrated with.

There is 'a large offer' on the table for the player according to The Guardian, and although we know there is interest from Juventus and Sevilla, could it be Chelsea who are putting the moves in for what could potentially go down as one of the most shocking transfers in footballing history?

The move to Chelsea would be easy for all parties and will certainly appeal to Sanchez. There will be Champions League football, Chelsea can pay his high wage demands, he could potentially be playing for the Champions of England and the appeal to link up with the likes of Eden Hazard, Cesc Fabregas and Pedro could be far too tempting for the 28-year old Forward.
With Chelsea also set to lose Diego Costa this summer, the Club will need to sign a high profile big named replacement and the Sanchez move cannot get anymore high profile. Hazard also prefers to work with intelligent players he can link up with and you cannot get anymore intelligent than Sanchez, he is simply one of the best in his roles.

Sanchez is a fans favourite at The Emirates and will certainly cause drama if this move happens, Arsenal will also be doing everything in their powers to stop him staying in the Premier League. But we know that money talks and with his contract running down, they will want to cash in for as much as possible. It might just be that Chelsea's owner Roman Abramovich will sanction this move without a concern for the amount, especially if Costa does depart.

There will certainly be a good amount of Clubs keeping a close eye on this situation and it will mount for an eventful summer at Arsenal. I also believe that Sanchez's future depends a lot on whether Arsene Wenger stays at the Club or who the next Manager might be if he does leave. Sanchez has clearly become fed up with current life at the Club and the lack of success.

So is Sanchez about to become the most hated man in North London since Ashley Cole? Watch this space...
