A busy summer in store for Chelsea?

Friday 24th March 2017
Chelsea are on course to lift the Premier League trophy and also stand in good stead to do the domestic double, which really would be some achievement for the blues when you think how they faired this time last season.

The transformation carried out with almost the same set of players by Antonio Conte has been truly admirable, his tactics, change of formation and man management of certain players has been a joy to experience and has put him up there as one of the best current Coaches in world football.

Rumours state that he is so highly thought of at Chelsea that the Club are willing to accept his demands of being more involved with player recruitment, starting this summer. Apparently, the Italian is due to be given one of Roman Abramovich's open chequebooks in order to improve an already impressive squad of players.

Conte is a perfectionist and he wants more, he knows the kind of players he wants in his squad and his Club are already putting the moves in to bring some of his targets in this summer.

As well as the alleged agreement of terms with France International Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco, there has been very strong links with Marco Verratti from Paris Saint-Germain, Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal, Romelu Lukaku from Everton, Leonardo Bonucci from Juventus and of course Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid just to name a few.
There are many other links coming in from reputable sources and it is clear that Chelsea's scouting team are working overtime, currently composing a shortlist that is driven by Conte. Many of these players are the combative types that he likes and it's clear that he is trying to build foundations of a strong robust centre-midfield to work alongside the ever impressive N'Golo Kante.

He'll also be making moves at the heart of his defence where he prefers ball-playing type defenders, with Bonucci topping that list. He knows the player well, admires his style of play and there is a decent chance he will leave Juventus.

There is also the drama, controversy and uncertainty surrounding club top scorer Diego Costa, who is pretty much destined to leave in the summer with his latest comments stating his desperation he had to leave the Club in January. The Spaniard is clearly not happy at Chelsea for whatever reason and will likely chase the money in China if his former Club Atletico Madrid cannot stump up the cash to bring him back.

I believe that Chelsea will then target bringing back a former player of their own in the shape of Lukaku, who certainly tops their list of strikers right now. If Costa goes and Lukaku will be the main man up top, this could be a fairy tale story destined to happen. The Belgian international has a point to prove at Chelsea as well as some unfinished business, he has the type of attitude where his confidence will be drawing him back to this club, where he will want to succeed with a second chance.

Bakayoko would also be a hugely exciting addition for Chelsea, placing him alongside Kante in that Midfield would surely create an unstoppable and unbreakable pairing in there. If The Blues can come up with the right price for Monaco, this could well be a major signing and the clubs first of the summer. It's certainly going to be busy there with many players set to look for the exit door as well.
