With The International Break The Weekend Coupon Looks To League One & Two

Friday 5th September 2014
The international break means football fans are cruelly denied of any Premier League and Championship action this weekend, however, there is still a full fixture list in League's One and Two.

Here at IRAIW we've delved into Saturday's matches and plucked out some crackers for this week's Treble Bet. On this occasion we are backing the League One duo of Peterborough and Bristol City to register wins, while a draw is predicted at the top of League Two between Morecambe and Cheltenham, who have each enjoyed cracking starts to the campaign.

If each of these three results suffice you could be £218.17 the richer with Bet Victor (off a £20 bet) come Saturday evening.

Peterborough v Port Vale - home win @ 5/6

The first of our two League One picks comes at the London Road Stadium, which is the home of the early league leaders Peterborough, who have enjoyed a superb start to the season. Darren Ferguson's men are desperate to return to the Championship after losing out in the play-offs last season, and they have so far shown their intent during the early stages of the 2014/15 crusade.

The Posh leapt to the summit last week after recording their fourth victory of the campaign, a 3-1 victory at Colchester United. On Saturday they will be bidding to register their third consecutive league win when they welcome Port Vale to London Road. 18th-placed Vale have had a poor start to the season, winning just one of their opening five league games, while they have lost their last three games in all competitions. Furthermore Posh were unbeaten against Vale last season (W1 D1), amd have won three of the last five encounters (W3 D1 L1).

Bristol City v Scunthorpe - home win @ 3/4

One point and two places behind Peterborough in the table are Bristol Rovers, who are one of only three teams (Fleetwood & Preston) unbeaten in the third-tier. City endured a disappointing 2013/14 season, finishing 12th on their return to League One. However, Steve Cotterill's troops, who have won three and drawn two games so far, are determined to bounce back this time around by storming back up to the Championship.

The Robins head into Saturday's match unbeaten in their last nine League One matches at Ashton Gate.  Their cracking form means they will be expected to swat away the challenge of struggling Scunthorpe, who are down in the relegation zone after picking up just four points so far. The Iron, who won promotion last season, are without a win in four league away games, and that unwanted record is likely to be extended this weekend.

Morecambe v Cheltenham - draw @ 12/5

This weekend's tasty top-of-the-table League Two clash pits together 3rd vs 2nd at the Globe Arena on Saturday afternoon. Both teams have started the season in fine fashion, with Cheltenham unbeaten with 13 points from five matches, while Morecambe are just one point adrift with four wins to their name.

The match promises to be a humdinger between two sides who know that a win could see them shoot to the top of the table. However, we are predicting that the honours will be shared in Lancashire, which has been the outcome in two of the last four encounters at the Globe Arena.

Mick is a passionate fan of Coventry City and has watched from the sidelines (and had the privilege of seeing the inner workings during an exciting two years in corporate sales there) to see the once mighty Sky Blues fall from the Premier League, then fail to sparkle in the Championship, relegated from League One and wind up in League Two before winning the most important fixture in football competitions - The Checkatrade Trophy final followed by a heart-stopping promotion back to League One.

As well as supporting the Sky Blues, Mick appreciates all levels of football and loves a good book to keep himself entertained as well as a few hours on FIFA or Football Manager as time allows.

He also keeps an eye on all the major English leagues and regularly enjoys a flutter looking for that elusive treble!
